Running Late To Your Accounting Midterm?

Guilty as charged. That's me. The girl who wakes up too late to put on a lick of mascara.

HOWEVER, Pink Blush blessed me with this tunic that I just throw on over, put a vest on, grab some sneakers, and go.
Funny story: When I first got this dress I did not realize that it was for women in maternity, I just simply fell in love.

Pink Blush Boutique is this super chic online boutique that now offers non-maternity women wear. What I noticed about this brand is that it really strays away from the conservative look when it comes to women. All the clothes are well fitted and very flirty. All their pieces are incredibly affordable (there's a sale going on today, 25% off sitewide with the code: SpringIsHere).

I decided to go for a laid-back street style. Mind you I am a college student at Montclair State so I need to be able to run around, so I opted for low white sneakers to contrast the black tights. I also wanted to make the tunic look tom-boyish. Any other day I would pair this tunic with these cute booties from PinkBlush:
Maybe next week during spring break I can show you how I can play up this look. Stay tuned.

Athleisure: Men's Edition ft. Kam Mickens-Bennet

Some how and some where athletic clothing has become a necessary piece in every day fashion. Whether you have Economics at 5pm and a Basketball game at 6pm, these are a couple of pieces you may want to consider investing in:

Say it with me: "Yeezy, Yeezy, Yeezy, just jumped over Jumpman".
This past year, Adidas has been kicking up their athletic wear game and making a lot of their pieces (some) unisex. During Christmas, I picked up an Adidas Rita Ora track Jacket and gifted it to my brother. In my defense it was "hella" dope.
Now, This post may be a tad bias towards Adidas because I love their brand and everything in it. However, a lot of my favorite men's pieces can be found elsewhere:
These looks can be found at Urban Outfitters . The first model wears an Adidas street montage logo tee that I love SO much because it seems really simple but the color-blocking is done so well. You can pair it with a windbreaker or if you want to play it up I would go with a dark denim jacket.
The second look revolves around the basketball shorts. What Adidas has managed to succeed in doing is playing with colors, especially for the spring. Usually when I walk into the men's section of a store, everything is bland. I love the combination of black and white shorts with an accent color paired with a bright colored hoodie. This was by far my favorite look on the UO website.

Move aside baseball caps, visors are making a come back (now what am I going to do with all my caps?).
These two key pieces can be found on Adidas (Visor and Moto Jogger). The visor is just an accessory that you can basically pair with any outfit and it can tie in the athleisure feel.
If you are a college student you might want to invest in these Moto Joggers and throw your jeans to the side. These pants make it easy for you to run across campus, up the stairs, and still walk in looking like a Major in Mr.Stealyourgirl. It may even give you the courage to ask the cute brunette who sits in front of you if she wants to study for Midterms together!

All in all, comfort is in and try hards are out. Fashion and style shouldn't make you stand in front of your closet for 25 minutes to pick out something reasonable to wear. Athleisure gives you the option to grab it and get on with your day.

Stay tuned to see an Athleisure: Women's Edition

90's Baby: When Your Childhood Makes a Comeback

This is not a drill! Bring down the old box of clothes from your attic because there are a couple of things you are going to want to bring out!
90's is making a major come back with chokers, brown lips, FILAS, jean jackets, and t-shirt jerseys.

You may be thinking, "Who is she to be talking about the 90's when she was born in the middle of the era" but to be quite frank, appreciating an era's style has nothing to do with having to lived in it.

In October 2015, I wanted to take a blast to the past with a new shoot. As I did my research and looked at my surroundings I asked myself, "Did the 90's ever leave"?
Brown/mauve lips. Denim on Denim. Extreme color-blocking. Minimalistic uptown girl to urban princess of Belair. Let's take a look of our (meaning my*) favorite looks:

Fashion

Festival season is literally right around the corner and this is the most iconic Coachella look. Every trendy gal will try shadowing this Gwen Stefani, extra terrestrial, look. Halter tops can be found mostly anywhere but my go-to shop for camis are: Forever 21,OmWeekend, NastyGal, and Gypsy Warrior

I would like to take the moment to point out that this is very Moschino SS '16 (so that means we're doing something right). And if you have not taken the time to see their runway looks here is one of them:
Lo so! Lo so! Some of us are afraid of color but to be honest IT IS SPRING for crying out loud. But if you are like my dear friend Sharon, who cringes at the idea of a neon bralette, do not invest $2,000 on a Moschino bomber jacket. Opt for a bright halter bralette and pair it with a mesh top and white cuffed jeans. Also, NastyGal carries so many luxe goodies for the low-low if that is something you want to invest in. If you are more adventurous I would recommend you checkout @OmWeekend on instagram and check out their shop too!
Now, here is every 90's teen/tween fashion icon, who I did not appreciate until I got older. This denim vest can basically be paired with anything from a flowing printed dress to a turtleneck ribbed shirt and a scuba skirt.
The second look is definitely an Alexa Chung necessity in her closet. However, overalls can be tricky for us curvy gals so I always recommend that if this is a look you want, try going to the store and trying them on. Even though they run like pant sizes sometimes the top will not cooperate with you.
Moving onto the third look, I am starting to think that Rachel Greene is Brandy Melville's style muse because you can get all these looks (especially the last one) from Brandy. Recreate this look by pairing your cropped turtle neck with high-waisted shorts and a flannel tied around the wait. Feeling "risky", then throw on some thigh highs. Feeling lazy? Throw on some converse.
And lastly, I bet you $10 can recreate this look by looking deep into your PJ drawer because in this picture, we are all Rachel Greene.

Beauty

The brown/mauve lippie is making a major comeback. I sometimes find myself becoming the collector of all nudes/mauves/brown shades of liquid lipsticks (love them!). Lately, NYX's Liquid Lingerie has been selling some bomb.com lippies and I command that you all check them out.
Especially, "Beauty Mark" since I find it to be a similar dupe to Kylie Jenner's True Brown. Here are some swatches of my favorite found on Samfbeltran.com:

Let me know what you guys think about Liquid Lingerie. TTYL :)

Monday Hues: Serenity and Rose Quartz

I do not know about you, but as a business major, I do not have time for these said Monday "blues" especially if my classes start at 7:00 am. I am firm believer that if you play up your look with bright colors your perspective on the day will change completely. Here are 3 steps to look good and feel good.

Now, I am probably not one to talk as I write this blog post because I am currently wearing black North Face leggings, a black F21 turtle neck, a dark orange H&M oversized cardigan, and Urban Outfitters patent loafers (a cute apricot color!) but I had an elevator speech to do at my 7am and I was 10 minutes late (oops). However, I did pair my laid back outfit with Blair Waldorf inspired accessories including a Baublebar pink tulle ballerina earrings and a bedazzled pink headband. BUT LET ME TELL YOU, that my lil' bright accessories made me ace that speech and you can too! You can conquer any task this Monday with a little bit of help.

Color of The Year

Step aside Marsala 2015, the dynamic duo Rose Quartz and Serenity are here. I have found myself obsessing over the two and I believe a lot of the designers can agree with me.
Balmain's latest collection and our favorite girls (Kendall & Gigi) debut a very beautiful light hues look in Paris:
A round of applause to their stylist. Now, you are probably thinking, "How will I ever achieve this look and where can I get my hands on it?" If you are like me, a poor college student, then I reccommend you to check out the UK based store, Missguided.
1) The Clothes: All these pieces can be found on their website (I literally looked up nude and found them all)
As for accessories, I recently bought this small Michael Kors envelope purse in "pale blue" from Macy's which was the best $70 I have ever bought since I got it on sale. I could not find an exact picture of it online but here are some similar styles:
2) The Accessories: On the left is a similar one to the one I actually own except mine has a flap. On the middle is a Rhea "pale blue" backpack that I need to get my hands on. On the right, is yet another beauty that I own from Henri Bendel, the Jetsetter. That is my go to bag for any meeting that I have to run to be it for my major or my magazine.
In the photo above, Dakota wears Topshop converse styled sneakers that I found in a Goodwill near the Greenwich Village last summer (best goodwill there is). Lately, I have been obsessing over shoes so it is only safe to show you guys the two shoes I have been lusting over:
3) The Shoes: Of course, the first shoe is from Steve Madden and the only reason I noticed them was because they were on display at the store. The second are from a website called Simmi Shoes and they are a UK based store. If you plan on shopping there please note that the sizes there run a tad smaller.

All in all...

Just knowing that my two favorite colors are the colors of the years means that this will be a good year. My year. And I know I say this every year, but I seriously mean it this time. Just by adding some color to my wardrobe today made me feel so energized. I got up (late), aced my speech, had lunch with my freed Scarlett (CONRGRATS ON YOUR CROSSING #mermaids), and now I am writing this wonderful post to you all.
Even though it is raining, stay dry and bright Sunshines.

*enjoy pictures of my pretty friend and Model, Dakota*

Kylie Lip Kit: Kourt K Review

So, this is the review (some) people have been waiting for because not all of us can waste $29 on a lippie and liner or can even get their hands on it. Make up is an investment and sometimes the investment can be costly considering not all the products are right for us. I hope the following will help you figure out whether or not this is the right liquid lipstick for you and what alternatives you can take.

First Things First

I prime my lips with the Glam Glow Plumprageous Matte Treatment which can also be purchased at Sephora. I love full lip look so I use this to give my lips a little lift. Surprisingly, the effect lasts a while even after the tingly feeling goes away which is a plus in my book considering I'm rarely ever in my dorm. After the treatment dries matte, within a minute, I apply the Kourt K lippie.

The Application

Before anything, you already know that I like my lips to look EXTRA full so I typically over line my lips but for the sake of this post I just lined my lips with the Kourt K lip pencil. I personally can live without the lip liner because I do not believe that it is the same color as the liquid lipstick (Kylie wyd!?!?). Maybe mine has a defect, who knows. It wouldn't be the first time. Quick rant: I prefer my lip liners to be a tad darker than the actual liquid lipstick or lip gloss I am applying just to give the illusion of fuller lips. In this case, the liner appears to be lighter and it just gives a streak or bleeding look. Completely defeats the purpose of the liner. HOWEVER, I did not use a concealer to clean up the look.
Moving forward, the liquid lipstick applies extremely creamy and thick so beware because a little may go a long way. You do not want to over apply because the drying process will take extremely long. I applied a thin layer and went from there. The lippie is buildable so you can add a little more and more for a darker lip (perfect for the fall). After I was done I went about my day and to all my classes.

After two hours

The lipstick was drying up my lips like crazy and someone even offered me chapstick (how embarrassing). I did not want to apply anything on top of the color for the sake of the review. My lips showed creases and the color was fading in my inner lip!

After 4 hours

At this point it is lunch time (3pm) and my lips are flaking apart. Of course me eating a cheeseburger did not help and it is then that I realize why the Kardashians eat like this:

I had the urge to reapply but soon after I regretted it. The flakes absorbed the liquid lipstick and became flakes. That was the end of that look, R.I.P. Anyway, the day was almost over and I was done with classes. I do not think I'll be relying on this lippie for an all day look anymore (great for selfies though!)

Dupes

The first lipstick is not matte but it is a luminous bright purple that I love love LOVE especially in October. I am not sure if you can still get this shade, "Scandal",in Sephora still but if you can get your hands on it I would strongly recommend it. The lipstick underneath is "Smoked Purple" from M.A.C which I know for a fact you can still get online or in the M.A.C at Macy's (which is where I got mine). It is very very dry because it is matte so I recommend the use of blistex. Even though it is a very dry lip, I still prefer it over Kourt K because if you add just a bit of lip balm it becomes velvet-y and hydrated where as if you add anything to Kourt K you might as well take it off.It is closer to the black side than Kourt K is and strongly resembles "Cyber" by M.A.C (which is why I first bought it).
These are the swatches of all 3 of them in the light and dark. The first one, left to right, is "Scandal" by Marc Jacobs, the second (middle) is "Smoked Purple" by M.A.C, and last but not least is "Kourt K" by Kylie Cosmetics. All in all, Kourt K makes for a perfect selfie lippie but probably not the best choice for a busy all day look. If you have $29 (+ shipping) to blow away, go ahead buy it, it's nice. If you do not have $29 visit a local NYX store and swatch some dark lippies. Go to Sephora and scout some different shades. I guarantee you will find something in your budget range.
